A Poem About Grief
Prompt: "A poem about grief"
The sea is lovely to look at, but it’s so dangerous. I once saw a boy in the sea, and he called me into the waves. He said that if I followed him, we would not age- neither he nor I.
So I left my family and my city, and I went to live with him in the sea. And we lived, for many years, without ageing.
But one day, he asked me to choose; he said that I could have whatever I wanted. He would obey me absolutely.
I told him to fuck off, and I swam away from him.
I’ve heard since then that there are people like me- people who make their wishes on stories, people who weave words into things and deeds.
What’s the weather like where you come from?
